| In the late 1800's, Henry Haywood Knight donated large portions of land for the railroad to establish a route through the township that was to become Knightdale. Although Knight did not live to see it, his donations did bring the railroad in 1904. The railroad brought prosperity to the town by providing a means of commerce for farmers and merchants. The residence of the station master still stands along Railroad Street's tracks. Knightdale continues to experience economic growth, while still maintaining the sense of community that can only be experienced in a small town. Knightdale, is large enough to offer many cultural, recreational, and employment opportunities, yet small enough to maintain its identity as a community. Knightdale is a wonderful place to live, work and play. If you are a newcomer or existing resident, we hope that you will play a part in continuing to shape Knightdale into a community that we can all be proud to call"living at its best". |
